How Atomate Software's internal communication has been changed before and after pandemy

With the rise of remote work as many other companies, Atomate Software had focused on how to improve strategic communication with their employees. In times of change and rapid growth, there is a greater need for companies to be flexible in how they communicate with employees.

But with that comes challenges that have never before been a concern for companies: how do you keep everyone in the loop and feeling like they're part of the same team?

Director of Technology, walked me through the process of how Atomate Software’s internal communication has been changed before and after pandemy.

"Although we have always been told that interpersonal communication is underrated, we found that it actually is underestimated. We had to relearn how to be productive while chatting via a messenger or in an online meeting—how to hear all team members' voices without interrupting them and being heard when speaking, without spending too much time on "you go ahead," "- no, you go, please."

This is where a good communication strategy comes in—by making sure that everyone has access to the latest updates, you can keep them informed and engaged in what's happening.

This helped us ensure that everyone stays focused on their work while also increasing #productivity overall.

“We believe that the future of communications will be designed to meet what employees need. This means easy-to-use, accessible and modern platforms.”

Organizations need to be able to disseminate information in a quick, easy manner. Employees need to get access to the information on a centralized platform. Everyone needs to participate.

74% of employees feel they are missing out on important information - Gallup poll.

This concept led us to implement new internal communication measures.

"When you're next to the person you want to get an answer from, you can always get feedback right away, whether it's a confirmation, a "come back in 15 minutes" or something else.

To maintain this streamlined communication in an online fashion, we agreed to always respond to all the messages we receive, so that one always knows exactly where they stand."

Tech companies like Buffer , Doist, and Github had already been famously 100% remote for years. They’ve publicly cited the many benefits of this setup, including better #worklifebalance , more productive employees, and access to a richer talent pool.

All of them have in common "async" type of work on communication.

Our team is on the road of implementing this concept. We are facing challenges along the way, but we are determined to see this project through.

"We've been in the process of getting asynchronous in our work even before COVID-19. The challenges we faced were the same as before: getting things done with no interruptions while ensuring that everybody is aligned and up-to-date with the status of the matter in development."

It takes time, effort, and the right technology to make an asynchronous company work, but the benefits are worth it.

Many people expect that when the pandemic will be over, life will go back to being the same as it was. This is unrealistic.

The pandemic has shown that different ways of working are possible, and many people will be reluctant to give up the flexibility and work-life balance that they’ve experienced since the pandemic began.

Effective communication is still key for us to build trust in our team and maintain our company culture. We rely on it to remain connected and aligned, which keeps us moving forward together.
